Morgenbericht (morgenbericht.de) is an independent Swedish digital news publisher owned by Morgenberich Media Ltd., a private company registered in Gibraltar. This Editorial Policy sets out the principles, processes and standards that govern every piece of journalism we publish. It is designed to give readers a clear, concrete understanding of how we work, who is responsible and what you can expect from us.

What is our editorial process?

Every article published by Morgenbericht is drafted by a named writer, reviewed by an editor and fact-checked before it goes live. This three-step process applies to all content, regardless of format or topic.

Our newsroom operates under the supervision of Chefredaktör Christian Busch, who has final responsibility for editorial standards and publication decisions. The daily workflow is managed by Redaktionschef Christina Hoffmann, who commissions stories, reviews headlines and ensures consistency across the site. Fact-checking is led by Helena Jäger, who verifies sources, checks claims and logs any corrections. We do not publish anything that has not been through this chain of human oversight.

How do we distinguish news, opinion, features, sponsored and affiliate content?

News articles report events and developments without commentary. Opinion pieces – clearly labelled as such – carry the views of the author or the editorial board. Features provide deeper analysis and context. Sponsored content and affiliate links are always clearly disclosed, and commercial relationships never determine editorial conclusions.

All sponsored or commercially influenced material is marked with a prominent label, such as “Sponsored” or “Paid content”, and is kept visually distinct from editorial articles. Affiliate links are accompanied by a standard disclosure. Our full policies on these distinctions are available on the Sponsored Content Policy and Advertising & Affiliate Disclosure pages.

What does article-level transparency mean?

Every piece of content on Morgenbericht includes the name of the writer who drafted it, the editor who reviewed it and, where relevant, the fact-checker. We also publish the date and time of publication and note any substantive updates.

If a correction is made after publication, we append a clear notice explaining what changed and why, and we maintain a permanent record of all corrections on the Corrections Policy page. We believe this level of transparency builds trust and allows readers to assess the reliability of each article on its own terms.

How do we maintain independence?

Morgenbericht is funded through display advertising, affiliate links, commercial partnerships, sponsored content, newsletter sponsorships and content licensing. None of these revenue streams have any influence on editorial decisions. Our editorial team operates independently from commercial interests, and our ownership structure – a private Gibraltar-registered company – safeguards that separation.

We publish detailed information about our funding sources and ownership on the Ownership & Funding page, and our advertising and affiliate disclosure is laid out in full on the Advertising & Affiliate Disclosure page. Readers can be confident that what they read is free from commercial or political pressure.

What you can expect from us

You can expect accurate, clearly sourced journalism that avoids spin and oversimplification. Every article is the result of a rigorous editorial process involving named writers, editors and fact-checkers. We label opinion, sponsored content and affiliate links explicitly, and we correct mistakes openly. Our editorial mission is to help readers understand complex issues in Sweden and beyond – without favour or fear.

How do we use artificial intelligence?

AI-assisted tools may support research, drafting, editing, formatting, translation, metadata, headline options, summaries and transcription. But no AI system ever replaces human editorial judgement. Every piece of published content is approved by a human editor, and AI must never fabricate quotes, sources, interviews, bylines, author experience or expert profiles.

We have a dedicated AI & Automation Policy that explains which tools we use and how we ensure accountability. If you have questions about a specific article’s use of AI, you can contact our editorial team at editorial@morgenbericht.de.

Why do we insist on named writers?

Every article carries the name of the journalist who wrote it, because accountability requires attribution. Readers deserve to know who is behind the work, and writers take personal responsibility for their reporting.

Our full team – including Chefredaktör Christian Busch, Redaktionschef Christina Hoffmann, Politikredaktör Oliver Schmitt, Wirtschaftreporter Anna Möller, Kultur- och samhällsredaktör Martin Franke and Ansvarig för faktagranskning Helena Jäger – is listed on the Our Team page, along with their contact details and areas of responsibility. If you have a question about a specific article, you can reach the relevant writer directly.

How do we handle complaints and corrections?

We take all complaints seriously and investigate them promptly. If a mistake is confirmed, we correct it transparently and publish a notice. Our formal complaints procedure is set out on the Complaints Procedure page, and we aim to respond to every complaint within five working days.

For corrections, you can email corrections@morgenbericht.de or use the general contact form at info@morgenbericht.de. The relevant editor will review the issue and, if necessary, coordinate with our fact-checking team.
