Morgenbericht’s editorial independence depends on being open about where our information comes from and how we ensure its reliability. This page explains the sources we use, the checks every article undergoes, and how readers can hold us to account.
Where do we get our information?
We rely on primary sources, official documents, direct interviews with named people, and established news agencies. Secondary sources are clearly attributed and linked where possible.
Our reporters track government publications, parliamentary records from riksdagen.se, EU institutions, Swedish agencies such as Statistiska centralbyrån, and verified press releases. For international context we use wire services like AFP and Reuters, always cross-checking with local correspondents. Anonymous sources are used only when the information is of clear public interest and the source’s identity is known to the editor; we explain why anonymity was granted. Every article includes named writers and, where relevant, a link to the original material.
How do we verify facts before publication?
Every article is reviewed by an editor, then checked by our dedicated fact‑checking team led by Helena Jäger (emma.sandberg@morgenbericht.de) before it goes live.
Our fact‑checkers verify numbers, dates, quotes, and claims against primary sources. They maintain a library of verified references and flag any unclear data back to the reporter. Artificial intelligence tools may assist with transcription or formatting, but the final judgement on accuracy rests with a human editor. No AI is allowed to fabricate quotes, sources, or interviews. Who is responsible for what we publish?
Chefredaktör Christian Busch (anders.lindqvist@morgenbericht.de) has final editorial authority and is accountable for every article, correction, and standard on Morgenbericht.
The daily newsroom is led by Redaktionschef Christina Hoffmann (karin.bergstrom@morgenbericht.de), who commissions stories and reviews headlines. Specialist editors cover politics (Oliver Schmitt), economics (Anna Möller), and culture & society (Martin Franke). What you can expect from us
You can expect reporting that is accurate, fair, and clearly sourced; corrections that are prompt and transparent; and a clear separation between editorial content and any sponsored or commercial material.
We never allow advertising or partnerships to influence our editorial conclusions. Commercial content is labelled unambiguously, and affiliate links are disclosed. Our tagline – “Nachrichten, Analysen und Hintergründe für Deutschland” – reflects our commitment to helping readers understand complex Swedish issues without spin or oversimplification. How do we handle mistakes?
We correct errors promptly and publish a note explaining what was changed and why. Readers can report a mistake to the corrections team at corrections@morgenbericht.de.
Corrections are reviewed by the responsible editor and the fact‑checking manager. If the error is significant, we update the article and add a correction notice at the top or bottom. For serious or persistent issues, we follow our complaints procedure, which guarantees a response within five working days. We also maintain a public log of major corrections (available on request) and will escalate any unresolved complaint to an external independent reader panel.
How can you challenge our reporting?
If you believe a story is inaccurate, incomplete, or unfair, you can submit a formal complaint via our complaints procedure or email factcheck@morgenbericht.de with supporting evidence.
Our complaints team, led by Helena Jäger, reviews each submission against our editorial standards. We acknowledge receipt within 24 hours and provide a full response within five working days.
